Why Singapore have increased Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD)?

Singapore government have increased Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD) for Singaporeans, PR and Foreigners from 27th April 2023.
Singaporeans :
- Till now Singaporeans who buying their second property have to pay 17% as ABSD but from 27th April 2023, it has been increased to 20%.
- If they buy third Property, they have to pay 30%.
Foreigners:
- Till now Foreigners, who were buying any residential property had to pay 30% as ABSD but from 27th April 2023, it has been increased to 60%.
Singapore government have made difficult for people to buy Residential Property.
